Hand of God: Mastery

It is tangled there, like an unruly head of marvelous hair. Eastern forests, Midwestern prairies, Southern swamps, and Gulf coastal plains are the predominant strands. Individual trees and shrubs let their hair down into ponds that drink an average of 55.4 inches a year.

Wildlife is most active at night, prowling and foraging while human heads are pillowed. Humans claim that “you’ll find every critter in there from crickets to elephants,” but what do humans really know? Other animals conserve their mysterious goings-on, mimicking the grander mystery of Mother Nature in toto.
