I call this one Masked Men. Having lived in and around New York City for almost two decades, I travel back there every year or so to renew friendships and to soak up the cultural scene that only NYC provides. This photo was taken in Greenwich Village on a beautiful October morning--not on Halloween. As my husband and I sat on a bench in a small park near 6th Avenue with our bagels, his Coke, and my coffee, these two sat down nearby. They also had breakfast from a nearby deli (note the coffee cup on the ground). I looked around for Alfred Hitchcock or Diane Arbus. I then asked if I could take their photo. The reward was an invitation to a Vogue fashion party that night. It turns out that their job for the day was to pass out party invitations throughout Manhattan, attired in a way that was assured to attract attention in a city where people make a study of not really seeing the strange. My conclusion: sometimes "only in New York!" is a true statement.
