Sherry Justus - Photographer | PAST and PRESENT | A Photo Essay

Past and Present

Tucson’s web site uses the slogan "Our Rich Past." Photographing there, I discovered that the past is sometimes intermingled with the present in interesting combinations. These six photos illustrate that concept. Black and white seemed to be the way to go with five of them: the "rich past" was largely a black and white one. The sole exception looks a bit like a faded Ektachrome snapshot—somewhat ghostly—in keeping with a situation in the natural world just outside of town.

Where Have All the Cacti Gone?
. . . long time passing . . . the saguaros are not nearly as numerous as they once were. I wonder: do ghost cacti revisit their former homes on full moon nights?
